Phoebe The Spy

Phoebe The Spy by Judith Berry Griffin was first published in 1977. It's original title was Phoebe and the General. This book takes place in 1776 and is written in third person.

This book is about a young girl who goes to work for General Washington. She works as a maid but actually a spy who is trying to save George Washington! Her father had overheard some men plotting to kill him! Phoebe thinks that the men are going to shoot him through the window at dinner but it turns out that they had put poison in his food! Phoebe realized this at the last second, grabbed the plate and threw it out the window! All of this and more in the book Phoebe the Spy! Read this book for yourself!
